Stage 7. Gathering and analyzing facts

By gathering and analyzing forensic evidence and witness statements, we can gather a larger picture of the crime that we are dealing with and can potentially tell a lot about a suspect from the way he attacks, any of evidence left behind, from finger prints to foot prints, hairs with attached follicles can tell us the age, gender, ethnicity and other traits of their genetic make up, helping to narrow down the search. Weapons left behind may also be traced to locations of purchase or finding.

Witness statements can open up further leads and give insight to what crime is like in the area, has this type of crime been committed before in close vicinity or surrounding area, is there someone always in trouble with the police? Even a description of the suspect if a witness happened to see the event.

Gathering in-tell on a suspect can give reason to further an inquiry against them, finding out previous convictions to see if they have a past of crime to do with the crime at hand, the lifestyle that they lead and any other people that they associate with who may have convictions.

From the prowler evidence and the string of sex attacks, they found a man named 'Antoni Imiela' who lived in the area, and was obsessed with girls of the age 10-15, describing 13 as the perfect age. Billie had told friends someone was following her for a while, and he wore a leather jacket, Antoni was reported as wearing a black leather jacket. Antoni was responsible for the string of sex attacks.

This stage has the same benefits, errors and importance as mentioned in stage 4, 5, and 6
