Stage 4. The incident room

An incident room is an on site facility room and base for the specialized police teams to set up base in, in order to deal with the case evidence and any new evidence that appears, quickly and efficiently.
The incident room helps to organise and co-ordinate all the operations of the case in one place, the specialist team can take witness statements here and receive phone calls containing information from the public. The specialist team are MIT's (major incident team) and are trained to deal with these procedures.

The level of importance of this stage can depend on the type of crime. For example, if a murder took place in a public place, there is a good chance the public may have saw something that could benefit the case, like the murderer themselves or weapon or direction the criminal run in. Whereas with my crime, it happened in doors where no one could see therefore the public may not have that much information to give meaning it could of been a waste of police time a resources.

This stage is not applicable to my case, however if used in my case, more information could have came to light from calls from the public which could have affected how the case was directed and could of resulted in a different outcome.
